Can we please please please get the toggle Gyro on and off as separate commands? Or have the Tap actions available as shift modifiers? It still really annoying to use the steam controller with Rewasd because of this limitations.

Toggle Gyro On and off as different commands (for steam controller)?

Such command is already added in the functionality of reWASD software.
Please feel free to assign a new mapping to the key you need, select commands - Toggle Gyro On\Off.
Another thing you can try is to unmap the gyro in the main Shift Layer and add the gyro mappings in another Shift Mode, which you can switch to, by pressing the Shift Modifier button in order to activate it.

Yeah, both things you are describing don't work with the steam controller as it is usually used, where the gyro is activated as soon as you tap the TouchPad and deactivated when you remove your finger. Because you don't have separate toggles for the gyro on/off, whenever you create a profile and you put your finger on the TouchPad, the gyro is actually deactivated and when you remove your finger it's activated, which is precisely the opposite behavior of what you want.
In addition, the 'tap' button is not available as a shift modifier, so it can't be used to solve this problem.
You have to manually enable or disable gyro which is precisely what I'm saying si a pain in the ass compared with how the steam controller is supposed to be used natively.
This two problems seem like they would be super easy to fix by just separating the toggle commands or adding tap as a shift modifier.

Thank you. We will take "add separate [Turn Gyro On] and [Turn Gyro Off] commands" as a suggestion.
Incoming changes to the Shift system will allow for another solution to this case. ETA - late December.
But for now, you can try to map [Tap]'s [Start/Release Press] activators to [Turn Gyro Off/On] command, and map something else, like some keyboard key or a shortcut of few controller buttons to the same command. That way, when you apply the config and trigger the command once, you should get the result you want.
