Hi reWASD team,
I have a feature request that I think could be a big quality-of-life improvement. Currently, we can save individual layers as presets and reuse them in multiple configurations via Copy & Paste. However, if there is a preset that you typically use across multiple configs (like the 'Windows layer' I use in all my configs), I have to manually apply this layer it to each configuration, and if I ever make a tweak to this preset, I then have to copy and paste the updated preset across all of my configs that have this layer.
It would be fantastic if there was an option to update a layer preset once and then choose to apply those changes across selected, or all, existing configurations that use it. Ideally a checkbox interface that prompts us select which configs to update would make it super flexible. Something like this:
"How would you like to update your layer preset?"
- Update changes to this preset only
- Update all Configs with this shared preset
- Apply to the following presets only:
(And here you'd have a dropdown or expandable list of checkboxes you can apply select the specific configurations.)
If I am not mistaken, the "Clone to" feature only allows you to clone the entire config, as opposed to any individual layers, so it doesn't really work as a viable solution here.
Thanks for considering this! I think it would save a lot of time and tedious work for those of us who experiment with shared preset layers across multiple configs. One of the best use cases for me is my 'Windows' layer which I use to control my PC when not in a game. This would certainly allow or more efficient experimenting with configs and testing them across the board.
Also, I'd love to see this same kind of functionality extended to the radial menu layers. Right now, it seems like we can't save any radial menus as a reusable preset at all (only given the option to Rename or Clear). It would be really helpful if we could save a radial menu layer as a preset and then also be able to apply updates shared radial layers across multiple configurations like mentioned above. In my current use case I have a 'Share' radial menu layer that I use to easily capture footage in OBS via hotkeys for recording, replay buffer, etc. It works out incredibly well, but has been such a hassle to apply this radial menu to configs that do not have it, and / or make changes to all other configs that have the radial menu already - but not my most up to date version.
Thank you for all your work thus far! The reWASD feature set has come a long way in the past couple of years, looking forward to more updates!
