Accident happened while using the software

I just opened the software and I was pressing down the Xbox button on my controller to shut it off before using another controller (I may have been also pressing in the same time the Xbox button of the other controller to power it on but I'm not sure).

At this moment my speakers made an awfull noise which I could only stop by turning volume off. When turning volume up again noise and shutting every program the loud noise had disappeared but I noticed my speakers made a buzz. I thought speakers were dead due to overload but switching to the sound card of my headphones and the buzz was still there. Also, when rebooting the first time there was something slowing down and windows apps would bug.

I reinstalled audio drivers and the buzz is still there on every sound card. This was the only fix that had real chance to work, I will try others manoeuvers but I believe my motherboard audio is just dead and that I'm good for buying another board.

I would have doubts about reWASD causing the problem but I had a previous problem with the software hurting my mobo (there is a post about it), and I only use the software for two weeks.

I'd like someone to discuss this with me please.

reWASD has no effects on your speaker or sound card. It only works with the controller directly. I think, it more like other software or third party drivers interfering that could damage or change audio driver or the hardware problem itself. And as I understood the problem has been solved by audio driver re-installing.

Be assured, that reWASD doesn't affect on any PC hardware including your controller.

Problem has not been solved, I wrote it.

reWASD has effect on the inputs of my gamepad, which has effect on my motherboard, which doesn't work anymore. You previously recognized your software causing trouble to the MB, don't tell me it can't now. I use my gamepads and all the software and hardware I currently have for years with no problem. There was nothing going on at the moment of the accident except me pressing my gamepad while reWASD opened.

I expected you deny my problem and I won't argue. But for me it is perfectly clear that your software did damages to my PC, which I am not able to prove so you won't admit anything. My MB is 160€ and your software 15€. 175€ is what you made me loose and you won't give me anything.

That is the story where I am a fool and you a bad company, be sure I'll let the whole internet knows it. I won't eat the pill without doing some justice.

We didn't claim that our software causes issues, in case you refer to your previous post. Yes, we agreed that reWASD emulates a keyboard a bit different (we've reproduced reported problem and it was seen extra mapped keys adding in the game chat) but this is totally about software architecture which is nothing common with hardware or your PC itself.
Of course, we do not refuse to help regarding your problem and try to find any clues together:

1. Can you check the problem with another speaker to be sure that this is a sound card issue?
2. Any mappings on the Xbox button on the controller when you pressed it to switch off?
3. Can you send us msinfo32 (win+r - type msinfo32 - file - save as NFO)

You say you didn't claimed you software causes issue but you reproduced the problem I had in Apex so you've seen it can causes real bad issues. And this is works with simple bindings. So I dare you to hold any remapped button in Apex more than a few seconds on you own computer.

1. Sound problem occurs on two different sound cards, one plugged via Spdif, the other one via USB rear port; noise can be heard with both speakers and headphones on both cards; this is very strange because I could only think of an electrical interference due to some failure of the board but Spdif does not conduct electricity; that means the interference goes to the outlet and back to the sound card powered by the outlet; otherwise it's a problem within Windows but this type of crackling noise really makes think about electricity;

2. Idk if mapping was off or if it was Apex setup, because I just launched the software and turned on the controller, and the software didn't had the time to show current configuration; btw I pressed two Xbox buttons: the one the Elite that I had just turned on, in order to shut it down, and the one on a standard Xbox one controller, to turn it on; I never applied any setup on this last controller; my guess is there was a conflict inputs, knowing that Xbox buttons can have some functions in Windows; I can send you the Apex setup but I don't know how;

3. I can't upload the file File exceeds PHP's file-size limit of 2.00 MB, how can I send it?

I'll try a few fixes I've seen on the net and I have to disassemble my computer. Maybe it will fix the problem, I'll try reinstalling Windows in last attempt.

I was the one who checked Apex and seems we didn't get each other right after my previous post. We've reproduced the repeated key presses in the Apex chat, but nothing more. No beeps, no strange sounds. I held the controller button quite long and the only thing it caused were numerous letters in the chat. Here were my steps:

1. I've mapped WASD to Stick, J to the right paddle and Enter to the left paddle.
2. In the game, I press and hold J and move the stick. The character crouches.
3. I still hold the paddle and then press the second one. The game chat is opened and I can see lots of "JJJJJ".

Then I've checked the same for the physical keyboard. While I press and hold J and then press Enter, the chat is opened but nothing appears in it. Once I release J and press it again, the character stands and J is in the chat.

I admit that it is not convenient thing but it doesn't affect hardware or system. Moreover, in Windows, you can set the delay between the repeats of the physically pressed key in Settings so in any case it can't be a reason of some hardware failure. It's just a simple setting anyone can change. I guess that something is already wrong on a deeper level and so you get beeps once the key is stuck and now you come to this frustrating situation with your headphones.

So, to make it finally clear: I've been testing and using reWASD each and every day for 2 years together with a team of developers & QA specialists, at work and at home, with tons of various controllers, in hundreds games, pressing all possible kinds of combinations, holding the buttons, adding combos and many more but never experienced any affect on my hardware, any issues with motherboard, hard disk, headphones or anything else.

Could you try to connect another pair of headphones to be sure that it is PC problem?

The config files are stored here: C:\Users\Public\Documents\reWASD\Profiles
You need a *.rewasd file from the folder with the game name.

If you remember which key is mapped to Xbox button in this config, it's enough cause seems that you haven't pressed anything except for Xbox button, and so reWAD could fire only this mapping.

Could you try to connect another pair of headphones to be sure that it is PC problem?

Speakers, headphones and earbuds all sound the same on both sound card. And they do the sound only when connected to the PC.

If you remember which key is mapped to Xbox button in this config, it's enough cause seems that you haven't pressed anything except for Xbox button, and so reWAD could fire only this mapping.

Xbox button is unmaped on my Apex config.

I'll do some troubleshooting before to be sure that it comes from the system.

I'm quite sure it is an electrical issue with either the PSU or the mobo. It looks like there's a defect with the ground. It will be quite easy to see if it's on the hardware or the software side. I'll let you know.
