  • Game mapping Service keeps Crashing

After an Update, a mate contacted me, because he was irritated, why his reWASD is keep asking him, to restart the Service.
So, i decided to watch over his installation.
    After
    Reinstall > not Working
Uninstall, Reboot, Install > not Working
Uninstall, cleaning up the file-corpses, reboot and intall > not working
i was getting a bit confused.
so i decided to watch into this a bit closer.
i opened the services, and saw that game mapping service lurking there, "Not Running", and started it.
it was saying "running" and i was happy, and refreshed. "Not running"
Here starts the fun: i opened the event-logs and watched into the applications and found these two beauties:

    Code:

So, my mate was a bit derpy, and said: i got another one, let me try it.
plugged it in, restarted reWASD, and it was all fine.
plugged in the other one, and it keeps crashing.

So, the normal DS4 controller is not crashing the game mapping service, while the SCUF-modificated one is?

Is there maybe an issue with the SCUF-modificated PS-/DS-4 controllers?

    Sincere regards, H3draut3r

    Hello,

    To make clear:

    1. reWASD keeps crashing at the first start after installation with connected SCUF-modified PS-/DS-4 controllers. Please, this controller, vendor\model, maybe a link where I could see controller description.

    2. ReWASD does not crash without the SCUF-modified PS-/DS-4 controllers being connected or if some another controller is connected, like DS4. The problem only with a specified controller.

    3. Please, go to the Event Viewer (win+r - eventvwr.msc) Windows Log - Application and check error related to the reWASD more friendly view.

    4. We also would appreciate if you also collect additional logs which include service and driver logs. It's a bit tricky, so this is steps to follow:

1 Extract "reWASDLogging_logman" archive we shared with the link - http://files.disc-soft.com/filer/shared/1540561935/188/
    2. Open "reWASDLogging_logman" folder. You will be able to see two files(StartLog.bat and StopLog.bat). Open cmd via Administrator and navigate to a directory where reWASDLogging_logman was extracted.
    3. Type StartLog.bat with connected DS4 controller.
    4. Then please connect the SCUF-modified controller and type Type StopLog.bat in cmd when the service will crash.

This is the first part of the logs. The second one:
    1. Back to the cmd and type StartLog.bat with SCUF gamepad connected.
    2. Go to the Services and find the game controller mapping service. Start the service if it is not running - http://joxi.net/52azWB1sEvDNJA.
    3. Back to cmd and type StopLog.bat.

So, eventually, you have 2 zip archives that you going to send us for the investigation. You may attach here or send support-eml@disc-soft.com which is official support center.
    Don't worry! Be Happy!

Sorry for my late response. Got busy, because of work

But now, the data you asked for:

          1:
My friend told me, that it was a normal DS4-Controller, which was modificated laterly into a SCUF one, so there are no directly any sources of link, but i have the Hardware-IDs from the Device-Manager:

          Code:
          HID\VID_054C&PID_05C4&REV_0100
          HID\VID_054C&PID_05C4
          HID\VID_054C&UP:0001_U:0005
          HID_DEVICE_SYSTEM_GAME
          HID_DEVICE_UP:0001_U:0005
          HID_DEVICE

          3:
i extracted the events from the eventvwr, so you can open them in yours

          Error-report-extract.zip

          4:
then i had to look after the logs from the drivers, because there aren't any zips in the log-started directory.
i had to watch into the commands of the bat's, and found the files in "%programmdata%\disc soft\rewasd\logs"

          this are the results

DS4-to-Scuf_Service-Crash.zip > service was started successfully, with DS4 classic one connected, then switched to the Scuf'fied one and stopped logging.
scuf_only_connected.zip > Service was crashed, while SCUF one was connected, restarted the service, watched if crashed, stopped logging

If you still need some files or data, feel free to ask for them

          Sincere regards,
          H3draut3r

              Hello!

We've released reWASD 5.1 recently, and it includes a fix for SCUF DS4. Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to test it with this device so we will be extremely grateful if you install the new version to check. Please let us know how it works now.

Hey there! Just wanted to ask you whether you have already had a chance to try the new reWASD version. Would be extremely grateful if you check an issue and will get back to us. Thanks! :satisfied:
