The 8bitdo SN30 Pro+, in either xinput or switch mode, appears with the battery indicator half full at all times. It doesn't change to the "charging" icon if it's plugged in, either. Is there any way to fix this, or at least have it show something besides half full? Thanks.

reWASD reports battery status only original Dual Shock controllers. The 3rd party controller (wirelessly PC connected) do not report the battery status or report but incorrectly, so reWASD doesn't display battery indication it because of this reason.
Do you have any other app on your PC that shows the battery status? It may be a hardware issue.Don't worry! Be Happy!
