Game only allows mouse or controller

I play a lot of halo mcc on pc which makes you pick between mouse and keyboard or controller when playing online. I've downloaded the free trial of this program but am a little confused. Am I able to remap my controller's left thumbstick to WASD so I can use it alongside a mouse?

Yes, it is possible to remap sticks to keys or mouse. Option will be available once you click on any direction of a stick. Just don't forget to activate trial period for [Advanced mapping] feature: click on the [Key] icon, then [Advanced mapping] tab, then [Try] button.
