  • Shift Layer also activating main layer action

Hi, I'm using an XBox Elite 2 controller to play X4: Foundations. I'm using my left analog stick to move forward/backward, and I'd like to use it with a shift layer to move up/down.

What's happening is that in the shift layer, it's moving me both up and forward. I'm not sure whether that's the game or I'm doing something wrong in the configuration. This happens on any button on the controller, not just the analog sticks.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

    Hello.

By default, Shift layers inherit main layer mappings.
You need to reassign directions that shouldn't be played in the Shift layer to Do not inherit command.

Hi there, thank you! That won't work because I still want the button to do something, and "do not inherit" prevents that ability. I actually figured it out - I need the "Mute" button that's in your same screenshot, which suppresses Steam's system that attempts to manage the controller.

Mute is also a good option as it completely disables native behavior.
Probably in your case it is more convenient variant.
