  • ReWASD "Preferences" menu stopped working and can't be opened.

When I click on the 'Preferences' gear icon to open the menu it no longer works, clicks, or activates. All other buttons work except for the Preferences. I need to change the delay timing on Long Presses and can't because of this...

Is there perhaps a text or ini config file I can manually edit instead?

First, close reWASD via its Tray Agent and restart it as Administrator.

If that won't help, do the following:
    1. Exit reWASD from tray agent.
    2. Download and start this registry-file to enable reWASD logging:
      Code:
      http://files.disc-soft.com/filer/shared/1641592922/716/
    3. Open reWASD again.
    4. Try opening Preferences and wait for about a minute.
    5. Exit reWASD from the tray agent again.
    6. Open File explorer, go to [C:\Users\Public\Documents\reWASD\Logs] folder and send us its contents.
    7. Download and start this registry-file to stop reWASD from logging:
      Code:
      http://files.disc-soft.com/filer/shared/1641592922/715/

Wanted to say I tried reinstalling the current version and that didn't work.

Also tried running reWASD.exe in Administrator mode and that did not work either.

I want to send the log but no matter what I try I simply cannot open the link you gave me for the registry file, every single time the browser prevents the link from opening. I tried turning off Windows Defender's Real-Time Protection but the link still won't open. I also tried clicking the link in Chrome, Brave and Edge and it did not let me open the link in any of them.

If you wouldn't mind I'm fine with downloading the reg files from some other site, cos for whatever reason I simply cannot open that disc-soft URL.

Failing all of this one thing I haven't tried yet is using an older version of reWASD... I wanna see if the logging reveals anything first, though.

Instead of clicking the link, copy and paste it to another browser tab.

I managed to download the first reg file by opening the link in a Private Window and refreshing it, however the 2nd reg file link errors out when I try to do the same.

Here is the log it created: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/t84mc...51xqvbe29&dl=0

First link works fine now, however the 2nd link is still broken.

Ok, got the 2nd link to work by pasting it in another tab and deleting some letters and % that appeared after /715/ .

We will check the logs with the team and get back to you.

As for the second link, try downloading the file here: rewasdloggingoff.reg

Unfortunately, we couldn't find any useful information in these logs.

Please clear the [c:\Users\Public\Documents\reWASD\Logs\] folder, close reWASD via Tray Icon, and start it again with the "-tracetext" parameter.

To do that, open preferences of the reWASD shortcut/link and set Target to:
                  Code:
                  "C:\Program Files\reWASD\reWASD.exe" -tracetext
Once done, try to open the Preferences again, and if it won't work, wait for about a minute, close reWASD via Tray Icon, and send us the contents of the [c:\Users\Public\Documents\reWASD\Logs\] folder again.

                      Hmm. Still nothing.

Please look for error reports in Windows Event Viewer by following the steps below:
                      1. Press the Windows button, type "Event Viewer", and press Enter.
                      2. Choose "Windows Logs > Application" in the upper left corner of the window.
                      3. Click the "Find" option at the right panel and type "rewasd" and/or ".NET" to search for related errors.
                      4. Once you find one or multiple events, right-click each one of them and select the "Save selected events..." option.
                      5. Send the resulting file(s) to us.

Well, I completely uninstalled current version of ReWASD and installed the 6.6.0 version and now everything works fine. However, I also manually deleted all ReWASD and Daemon Soft folders in my AppData, Program Files, ProgramData and Public folders, so it is quite possible that doing this was what actually fixed it and it's not related to me using the older version.

Regardless it's working fine now so I don't want to touch it again, so I'll just stay on 6.6.0 for now. Thank you for the support and help! I'll be sure to post again if anything new happens.
