Mouse behaviour ingame when using a Rewasd with Gamepad on PC

I use rewasd to emulate a gamepad for my pc game. Before (I must have changed something) the mouse would go from screen to screen on my Pc and would not effect my character while I was in the game. Now the mouse is captured inside the game screen and also controls my character. I really liked how I could play the game on my gamepad and change a spotify playlist with my physical mouse on the fly if that makes sense. Any ideas what was changed or is it maybe even a game problem?

It looks like this is a game issue because all reWASD does in your case is remapping your triggers.

Since your mouse works like a regular mouse, what you described sounds quite logical.
