Desktop + game settings

hi. please help me set up rewasd.
need for the gamepad to work with one key layout on the desktop. and automatically pick up other settings in the game. I figured out the game settings. but how do I make the default settings for the desktop?

Enable [Autodetect] for a Desktop config or profile with [explorer.exe] and [searchui.exe] as associated apps and disable the [Remove applied config from slot on exit from the associated app] option at [Preferences > Tray agent].

Dude, I want to thank you for this tip so much. I've been wanting to do this with reWASD for literally years and have even asked here on the forum before but back then no one had this answer for me.

I've been using an app called "Controller Companion" to navigate the desktop meanwhile, and it has options for turning itself off when a game is launched so it worked fine... but now I can just use reWASD for everything and I don't have to run an extra program, which makes it neater. Also, Controller Companion created an extra virtual controller so that's one less, now only the one created by reWASD or DS4Windows are in play.

I actually don't have "searchUI.exe" on my Windows 11 app list, but just having it attach to explorer.exe worked great. Thanks.

Go to reWASD, create a separate profile for your game, and configure the controls as you need for in-game functionality.
