  • Way to remap the mouse/trigger button on a DarkWalker ShotPad?

Is there a way in REWASD to remap the left “trigger” which serves as the mouse….on the DarkWalker ShotPad??

I’d like to map it to a different traditional key on the keyboard. I use a normal mouse in my right hand with that controller…and actually use only the left hand side of the controller as I like a multi button mouse in my right.

Having that “trigger” as a mouse for my left hand is useless for my needs as I am a disabled vet with limited use of the last three fingers of my left hand which makes a traditional keyboard not work well for me…but a hybrid setup …..controller in my left hand only using my thumb and first finger and a mouse in my right does.

Unfortunately, more and more games are hard coding in controller support that cannot be remapped to an Xbox one style controller.

Hence why this ShotPad controller is so attractive…. Games see it as a normal keyboard and mouse.

Hello, you can follow these steps:
    1. While the mouse config is chosen, choose the mouse button you want to remap
    2. Choose the needed mapping from another drop-down list on the right
    3. To emulate controller with mouse, scroll to the bottom of a list, and then pick the needed controller key
    4. Add other mappings, press Apply and it’s done!

Hi. The basic remap should be enough in this case, but maybe by "trigger" we mean different buttons.
Could you clarify which physical button you want to remap?

Thanks for the replies. Let me clarify if I can. The way the ShotPad is made….the left, what would be called the “trigger” on a normal controller, is automatically mapped to Left Mouse Button.

I want to reconfigure that button/ trigger to a normal keyboard key such as the C Key which is normally the Crouch command in most games. But it can be any normal keyboard key because I can remap that whatever key in the game itself.

And anything I want what I do to that left Trigger on the ShotPad to leave my normal left mouse click button on my Logitech G502 mouse entirely alone.

I have been using REWASD and xPadder to remap the left side of normal Xbox one controllers for years and they have worked great. REWASD a far better product.

Unfortunately…..more and more games are hard coding controller commands into the game itself so if the game recognizes a controller……REWASD remapping has no effect. Perfect example is Stalker 2…but there are others as well and the list is growing rapidly. Controllers are so prevalent that it’s a no brainer for developers to code in support but very few of them add the command to “turn off controller support.”

The advantage of the ShotPad is it is NOT recognized as a controller by games or Windows….instead a keyboard and mouse.

If games would just have a simple setting to “Turn off controller support” it would be so much easier for disabled folks to add in HIDs based upon keyboard and mouse support…because it is universal and easily modified.

Anyway…rant over….thanks for help or suggestions.

          Hi!
Just to clarify, have you tried using a simple Basic Remap to assign the trigger to a keyboard key like "C"? Does this still affect the left-click function on your Logitech G502 mouse?

Additionally, have you experimented with the Mute function in reWASD? It can disable the default trigger action, which might help prevent the Left Mouse Button signal from being sent while remapping it to a keyboard key.

thanks for answering. Yes, I have done a basic remap of the mouse button on the ShotPad to a different key. Unfortunately, what that does then is override the actual mouse settings on the Logitech mouse…..

I am not familiar with the mute function, but this sounds like it might do the trick.

I will experiment with this and report back

            thanks for the suggestion!

Well fellas, I believe I have solved my problem and I didn’t even need to buy the ShotPad! Which I think is an excellent idea and a nice bit of tech for people who want something different….. but for left hand use only it was going to require some work…lol.

The mute feature pointed out by kapas absolutely fixed my problem with my old Xbox one controller set up, which I’d rather use anyway because I’m entirely used to it and I find the buttons so easily and it fits my damaged left hand nicely.

I can’t believe I missed this feature in reWASD and it appears to me it will solve all of my problems in the future with hard coded controller commands into brand new games. I actually have Stalker 2 performing exactly the way I want it to with my “hybrid” set up,

I believe that mute feature will let me overcome basically anything that the game developers throw at me in the future.

Great help and thank you so much.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!
