The way the touchpad is detected should not affect the remapping of your USB mouse if it is detected correctly separately in the GUI.
Make sure you have initialized your USB mouse correctly using Detection mode.

Please go to Preferences and perform Clear data to eliminate any potential issues related to reWASD.
After that, initialize and group your devices using Detection mode. Then, apply the config using the Apply to slot button.
