  • crosshair activation oddity

I just updated to the new version for REwasd (9.1.0.10107), excited to try out the magnifier, but now when I hit the shift key on my controller, it works, but differently.
Prior versions, I'd just hold the shift key, then select the crosshair I wanted to use,(My config used the start button on the xbox controller to go into a shift layer and then I had multiple crosshairs assigned to the A.B.X.Y.B Keys) when I'd release the keys it'd stay on the screen.
Now, I hold the shift key and select the crosshair I want to use but when I release the shift key the crosshair is gone.
All I did was update versions and I'm not seeing any notes in the update email about what I need to change.

Hi. Please send us your config. Right-click on its name, open the file location, and send it to us.

Thank you, here it is. I'm sure i'm missing something obvious.

That is a very interesting way to use the feature. Unfortunately, the current logic of turning the Crosshair on or off with a shift layer change has a higher priority (if no Crosshair is assigned to the current layer, it will be disabled).

We will consider returning to the logic that worked before or maybe adding an option to set the priority between mappings and Shift layer changes in future updates.

Thank you but I didn't make any changes to the logic, the only thing that changed was updating to the latest version of ReWASD.
Can you expand on your suggestion to set a priority between mappings and shift layer changes?
That sounds interesting to explore but I don't see anything like that jumping out at me in the config section.

You need to set up the crosshair binding to the desired shift layer by checking the corresponding checkbox.

I saw that, but that would mean that individual crosshairs would be assigned to specific shift layers correct? There's no way to get what I used to use which is a shift layer where I can try multiple different crosshairs while in-game?

You can use different crosshairs during the game by changing shift layers.

I get that, but I don't use shift layers like that. For my application I'm using them to gain temporary additional controls in a game that normally is expected to be keyboard+mouse so controller support sometimes doesn't work well for some functions (Warframe).
Switching to multiple layers would require mirroring functions to the 'new' crosshair layer and just be kind of cumbersome.
I'll figure out another option to use them, probably just make a group with my wireless keyboad and use that on the main layer to use different crosshairs.
I do love the product but my vote would be for reverting this particular change.
