Why does reWASD need to be connected to the internet so often?

I'm considering buying reWASD, but I noticed it requires an internet connection every 30 days to stay active.

Is there a specific reason for this requirement? And are there plans to make offline mode more reliable in the future?

1. The information about 30 days is outdated. Currently, the application contacts the licensing server once a day. This is done to prevent certain fraudulent schemes. Unfortunately, I cannot provide more details.
2. At the moment, we have no real plans to create a version of reWASD that could work autonomously.
