  • How to ignore or unassign devices completely ?

    Hi,

I have a bunch of devices showing at the bottom. When I right-click on one, there is no option to completely ignore or unassign them. I suspect it is causing some issues and lags with my PC and conflict with other softwares (like icue corsair). I want Rewasd to apply to only a very selected few devices, like one or two mice and that's it. How do I tell it to completely ignore the rest?

Be careful, I'm not talking about hiding the icon. I don't want Rewasd to have any implication with the device at all, no virtual device created whatsoever (but also be able to get it back in rewasd if I ever want to later).

    Thanks.

When selecting devices, only a few are switched to the Exclusive Mode (visible to reWASD only): Azeron, Steam, and FlyDigi controllers. All other devices are not affected by reWASD until a config is applied to them, which happens when you click the [Apply to Slot #] button, or when [Autodetect] feature is triggered.

You can hide ungrouped devices via the context menu until they are reconnected or always (you can return the icon by removing the device from the blocklist).

The problem is that when i plugged a new keyboard, it displays me the keyboard in the list at the bottom three times, two times with a white highlighted icon each, one with name of device, other called "corsair virtual input device", and third icon a little further away but greyed out, with name of device again.
I precise there is no green/yellow or white dot on the icon of the device i'm talking about, unlike the ones from the device i do actively use with rewasd.

Also, i have a message from Corsair ICUE software telling me that "the exclusive rights of the third party application are blocking the action of ICUE". I don't have any other application that could correspond to that, it's possible it's not rewasd, but for now, it's the only culprit i see.

So even if you tell me otherwise, everything seems to indicates rewasd has taken control of my keyboard, and i assume of every other device i've ever plugged in, even if i never used them with rewasd and automatically creates a virtual device by default, even if i didn't asked it to, or never clicked "apply to slot X".

That's what i'm trying to understand : i don't get why we can't just tell rewasd to completely ignore some devices like they never existed and it necessarily has to intercept every plug in and temper with them, one way or another (even if it doesn't reassign anything by itself).

The "corsair virtual input device" is created by ICUE software for native remapping purposes and is not related to reWASD in any way.
Gray dot on a device icon means that some config was applied to the device in the past and will be reapplied when you use the [Power] button or the [Turn remap ON] command of the [Tray Agent].
No dot means that reWASD won't do anything to this device until you apply a config for it.
Grayed out device icon means that this device is currently disconnected from the system. If you are using a laptop, then it must be its built-in keyboard. Some laptops can disable their keyboard and touchpad when an USB keyboard or mouse is connected.

This is definitely not the case. reWASD does not create virtual keyboards for every device, and can be made not to create any at all (check Preferences > Input Devices for the related option).
As far as I know, reWASD does not interact with Corsair keyboards in any special way, so unless some config is applied to it, reWASD is unrelated to the "third party exclusive rights" error.

Again, reWASD doesn't do that. Exclusive mode is enabled only for devices I've specified above. For other devices, a config must be applied to it for reWASD to affect it in any way.

Alright, thank you for the explanation. I tried different trouble shootings depending on what you said, but now i'm even more confused.

I closed ICUE and steam deck that came with that keyboard, i then quit rewasd, unplug keyboard, restarted rewasd. Now i still see TWO greyed out Corsair keyboard k55 icons PLUS still that "corsair virtual input device" white highlighted icon (so still THREE icons in total). Even no keyboard is plugged and corsair application is running.
When keyboard is plugged, one of the greyed out corsair keyboard icon turns white highlighted and other stays greyed out. icon : "corsair virtual input device" always there no matter what, it never disappears. Even if it's because of a specific aspect of the keyboard, like the native macros buttons or media buttons, it should disappear when i remove keyboard entirely.

So i have a bunch of icons for one device, i don't understand why.
And that ICUE app that telling me there is a conflict with third party app, still don't know which one.

Oh oh, i may have found the reason for the second greyed out icon that just repeating the main one. When i first plugged it and used ICUE, i asked me to update firmware AND plug it on a native usb system, so i changed usb from up to PC and updated it. Rewasd probably remembers my "old" keyboard version from that usb and didn't understand that was the same keyboard when i plugged it back on usb hub.

I hope it's the reason. if it is, that's one mystery solved.
Still that "corsair virtual input device" unkillable, unremovable white highlighted icon that i don't understand.

reWASD detects devices just like the system does (none of the shown devices are added or removed by reWASD).

Grayed icons are known but disconnected devices. You can use the "Hide until reconnected" option on them.
White devices are currently connected to your PC.

I suggest you contact Corsair support for details on how their virtual device should work and what exactly this "the exclusive rights of the third party application are blocking the action of ICUE" error means.
