Hi everyone,
The compatibility option worked only once for me. After that, without changing anything, I started getting errors when launching Apex Legends with reWASD.
At first I saw an error mentioning the x904hlp driver. Later, without any clear trigger, it switched to the usual 0x8000002 error.
Here’s what I’ve tried over the last 3 days:
I’m running out of ideas at this point 😅 Any suggestions on what else I could check to make the compatibility option work again would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s what I’ve tried over the last 3 days:
- Multiple reboots
- Uninstalled/reinstalled both reWASD and Apex Legends (Apex runs fine without reWASD)
- Toggled the compatibility option on and off again
- Removed the x904hlp driver via Autoruns → initially failed, then cold reboot → driver disappeared
- Tried to repair EAC from both Apex’s launcher and directly from Program Files folders → EAC still won’t launch with reWASD
- Verified game files on Steam → no change
- Created a brand-new Windows admin account → same issues
- Ran sfc /scannow and DISM /RestoreHealth → completed successfully but no effect
- Checked that x904hlp.sys is no longer present in System32\drivers
- Made sure EAC is whitelisted in my antivirus
I’m running out of ideas at this point 😅 Any suggestions on what else I could check to make the compatibility option work again would be greatly appreciated.
