  • reWASD buttons not remapping fully until restart

This is a bit of a weird issue.

It appears it's not remapping the buttons 100%. It seems to be okay with adding a remap, but not subtracting one. For example, if I remap R2 to Tab. If I click "Apply to Slot", it works fine. But if I try to remove it and then click Apply, R2 still Tabs. If I keep trying to unapply and reapply, it will start Tabbing multiple times with one R2 press. This happens until I reset the PC, which seems to reset the keybindings to nothing, and then when I click "Apply to Slot", it adds all the keybindings and all my changes are normal.

Any clue what's happening here? The only major change I've made to my PC lately is a firewall manager for Windows Firewall that defaults to blocking all outbound connections until I allow them. But I allowed all reWASD connections, and I don't know how that would mess this up anyways even without a connection. But then again, I haven't had to make any major changes to reWASD in a while. So who knows what changes my PC has experienced since then.

    Thank you for your help.

Hi! Please make sure that the config is actually stopping before you test the changes.
The fastest way to force-stop all remaps is to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete — this interrupts every active mapping instantly.
After pressing it, check your buttons again and see if the old R2 → Tab behavior is still there.

On the plus side, this solution prevents me from having to restart my PC from making changes.

On the downside, it doesn't actually solve the problem. I can't switch slots either once I assign bindings. There seems to be conflicting configs interacting with each other.

Can you make a short video of you doing the following:
        1. Apply the config to your controller in reWASD.
        2. Testing the result of a config in the ViewKeyCode app.
        3. Change the config and re-apply it.
        4. Test the result again.
        5. Stop the config via the [Power] button, CTRL+ALT+DEL shortcut, or a mapping to "Turn remap OFF" command.
        6. Test whenever the controller is still remapped with the ViewKeyCode app.
