Here is what it looks like in Services, I checked the properties and it is both running and set to automatic. Could it be its neighboring service?

      Hello,

Well, it could be some system issues. The logs show the reason why reWASD doesn't start up properly. In this case, the reason is something related to the WMI service or your system in general.

I would recommend checking this link regarding WMI, I think you would be useful.
Also, check the available system updates to install.

My system is up to date, not sure what else could be the cause of the issue. All of my exploit protection settings (Windows Defender) are set to their defaults as well, if that could have any effect on it.

          Hello,
I would start with WMI diagnostic. Perhaps it disabled somewhere in the system by some secure policy.

You may also try to activate the software on another system to make sure that the I issue is local.

            Hello,

I've made progress in troubleshooting. reWASD seems to be opening properly now and able to access the WMI Repository after I've rebuilt it, but now it gives me a new error.
            ERROR: Activation is approved

              Hello,

Please, open the C:\ProgramData\Disc-Soft\reWASD directory and remove license.dat file. Try to open the reWASD again. Is the problem reproduced?

If, so, what steps are to reproduce the problem?

I ran it as administrator shortly after my original unapproved post and that solved the issue. reWASD is running as intended and I am enjoying it, thank you for all of the help!

                  Hello,
Great news! Glad that the problem has been fixed. I wonder what was a troubleshooter, the license.dat removing or some permission if was fixed when the software was launched as Admin?

I have a very similar problem after updating from 5.4 to 5.5. However if I return to 5.4 it works perfectly. I'm not great with computers, but I've tried every step in this post up to rebuilding WMI repo (I did check that it is working properly)

                      Hinoramei BRYMAAN1,

Does the problem persists with ver. 5.5 even when you troubleshoot the WMI? Perhaps the @Hinoramei may provide more detailed steps on how did hi fix it with ver 5.5.

Yes, I checked before install and after and it checked fine. It keeps telling me on startup to install the gamepad mapper despite already installed and running. It tries to install it and then pops the -1 error and closes the program. Running in admin does not help.

                          Hello BRYMAAN1,

May I ask you to do the following:

                          1. When you got the Error: -1 message, please open Services, find the gamepad controller mapping service, and right mouse click and check if the service us running (screenshot). Please run it manually if it's stopped. Are there any error messages popping up after manually starting? Please take the screenshot of them.

                          2. Also, please open the C:\Users\Public\Documents\reWASD\Logs\ and find a log zip archive. Please send us up to date archive.

I noticed that the service tied to reWASD was named differently as shown in the screen shot. also, these are the files in the log folder. what is the right one? the text files just say,

                            reWASDInstaller: 14:13:41:062 TryCloseWaitDialog
reWASDInstaller: 14:13:41:063 Existing wait dialog count: 1

                                Hey there!

We need etl files. You have them, those ones at the top of the list.

Which service name do you see? Star-Lord sent you the way how it should be. Can you make a screenshot of the one you have?
