  • guard64.dll & Keyboard input problems

     Hi,

Could you help with issues noted bellow?

    Problem 1
reWasd 9 shows error nag regarding guard64.dll when controller gets connected. guard64.dll file belongs to COMODO firewall/antivirus software which operates properly. Reinstallation of COMODO did not help at all.

    Problem 2
On reWASD 6 version (and older) I could press reWASD mapping selector (marked in red on picture) and then I could type any letter or number directly from my hardware keyboard.

In reWASD 9 or 8 I couldn’t do that. If, for example, I want to enter letter K, I have to scroll through all the list of keyboard keys and find K letter that is needed. Hardware keyboard no longer can input letters or numbers directly. That is very inconvenient.

    Thank you!

    Hello.

    1. This is a problem on the COMODO side. You need to add the reWASD folder to the antivirus exceptions.
You can find how to do this on these forums.
    2. This issue is not observed in release versions on test PCs. Make sure that when you try to hook a button from the mapping list, no config is applied to your physical keyboard.

      Regarding Problem 1
My apologies that I forgot to mention that I added whole reWASD folder to COMODO exceptions. Also I disabled all the COMODO functional components off for testing reasons. Still error nag persist.
I use COMODO for many years as well as reWASD and I have never had such issues. Now, since reWASD-8 was released, suddenly, according to you, COMODO got guilty of having guard64.dll file for over decade. I am absolutely sure that reWASD team knows that issue is on reWASD side, not the COMODO.

      Regarding Problem 2
rewasd-7-1-0-8668, reWASD 6.7.1-8191 and older versions work properly. Versions 8 and 9 do not allow insert keys directly from keyboard. If thing worked for many years and suddenly stopped working after update, then definitely issue is on my side. Or NOT???

Assuming that your presumptions are “correct” and all the problems are “only from my side”, I uninstalled reWASD 8 and 9 versions and returned reWASD 6.7.1-8191 back.

        1. This forum thread hints that this is a long-standing issue on COMODO's end. There is nothing we can do to fix it on our end.
        2. We have tested the second issue on several recent builds, including the release build, and on several PCs. It does not reproduce. It is also not global.
Perhaps you should consider a clean reinstallation of Windows OS.
