Shift Layer Announcements

These notifications can be disabled via → Overlay → Notifications.

All of a sudden every time I activate a shift layer or return to the main layer a window pops up in the lower right of the screen informing me of this. I went into preferences and turned off all of the confirmations. This had no effect. How do I turn these annoying things off?
