  • Path of exile WSAD feasibility

Hi, I’m wondering first if there is already a ready-made reWASD profile for Path of Exile 1 that allows:

    WASD movement

    Game in Controller Mode

    Mouse cursor still free

Left-click acting as Controller Button A

Other mouse buttons or keys mapped to X/Y/B/LB/RB

I only found profiles that go in the opposite direction (controller → keyboard/mouse).
If there is already a profile for keyboard + mouse → virtual controller for PoE, I would love to use it or start from it.

    ---

If such a profile doesn’t exist, here is what I am trying to achieve:

Goal: Play PoE in Controller Mode while controlling it with:

    W/A/S/D → Left Stick Movement

    Left Mouse Click → A (interact / loot / NPC / waypoints)

Mouse remains free to move normally (no cursor lock)

Other buttons mapped as needed for skills (X/Y/B/LB/RB)

So essentially: Keyboard + Mouse → Virtual Xbox 360 Controller
but with real mouse cursor input still active.

    ---

    What I have working already:

Virtual Xbox 360 controller output is enabled in reWASD.

I successfully mapped WASD → Left Stick and movement in game works perfectly.

I also mapped Left Mouse Button → A, and it does send the A-button signal in PoE.

    So the base idea works.

    ---

    The Problem:

As soon as I activate the config that maps Left Click → A,
the mouse cursor becomes locked / captured / suppressed in game.

I can no longer freely move the cursor to aim, interact with UI, hover items, etc.

The only way I can get the cursor to move is by holding Windows key, which is obviously not usable.

So it looks like reWASD is enabling some kind of:

    Input blocking

    Exclusive mouse mode

    Raw mouse masking

    Or virtual mouse takeover

I need cursor movement to remain normal while sending controller button events.

    ---

    My Questions:

    1. Is it technically possible in reWASD to keep physical mouse cursor input active while also using the mouse to send controller-button signals?

    2. If yes, which exact setting disables the mouse-locking behavior?
(For example: group settings, exclusive mode toggle, “emulate mouse on behalf of”, HID mode, etc.)

    3. Is there a recommended configuration or known working setup for PoE specifically?

    4. And again — if there is a ready-to-use WASD-for-PoE profile, I would absolutely prefer to use that instead of building from scratch.

    ---

    Device Info:

    Path of Exile 1 (PC)

    reWASD (latest version)

    Keyboard: Corsair

Mouse: Razer Basilisk (recognized and remappable in reWASD, but appears as "initialize first" when trying to group with keyboard)

    ---

Thanks in advance — any guidance, profile link, or explanation of how to allow mouse cursor passthrough while mapping controller buttons would be greatly appreciated.

It doesn't appear that we have a configuration like this on our Community page.

I need cursor movement to remain normal while sending controller button events.
This depends on whether the game can handle double inputs (both from keyboard & mouse and controller).
If it does, simply disable the [Mute] option of the [LMB] mapping.
If not, then you'll have to choose between controller and keyboard and mouse controls.

Yes. Have the [Mute] option disabled for all mouse mappings. This will result in double inputs.

    No.

      No.
      TY!

Can you possibly help me with the last part of the puzzle?

I’ve got most of the WSAD setup working now in Path of Exile (PC, Controller mode). I used reWASD to map the left stick directions to W/A/S/D, and that part works great. I also bound A to left click and rebound a few other face buttons, so movement and basic interaction feel good.

The issue I’m stuck on now is changing the skills that show up on the controller skill bar (the X / A / B / Y and the LT/RT modifier versions). I already figured out how to open the “second skill bar” by binding LT and RT correctly, and that part works. What I cannot figure out is how to open the skill assignment radial menu that normally lets you swap which skill is on which button.

I tried rebinding the Menu / Select / “three-lines” button from the Xbox controller layout to a keyboard key, but when I press it in-game, I only get the normal pause/options menu. I never get the skill wheel to assign abilities.

So the last thing I need help with is:

What input (controller button) actually opens the skill assignment wheel in PoE controller mode, and what should I bind it to in reWASD?

If someone knows the exact function name/path inside reWASD (or can tell me what the controller mode expects that button to be), that would solve the last piece of this setup.

      I already have:
      • WSAD movement working
      • A/B/X/Y mapped and functioning
      • LT/RT modifier bar unlocked and displaying
      • Mouse input working without lock

I just need the correct binding that triggers the assign-skill radial menu.

      Any guidance appreciated.

In order to give you an advice, we need to understand which combination of controller buttons opens this radial menu.
