Game seeing normal not virtual controller, not working

I'm trying to play Apex Legends with a reWASD profile, but the game seems to be seeing the normal xbox controller, not the virtual one. If I select the option to hide virtual controller, it doesn't hide and the game won't respond.

Installed the game and checked it. The virtual controller works without problem. There is a note explaining possible troubleshooting. Please open the link and proceed #3 item. It should help.
