What is your favorite gamepad?

I don't really have a favorite gamepad at the moment, all of them have compromises. I love the Steam Controller -- specifically the triggers and the touchpads -- but it's a loud beast and many of the buttons require quite a bit of force to be pressed. It didn't bother me until I had used a DS4 for a year going back it's a bit tough to use. The DS4 with the official back button attachment is current primary device but joysticks are archaic. They do the job fine but I don't use the right joystick for aiming and the large touchpad of the Steam Controller is amazing for movement bindings.

However both of these devices require my hands to positioned together and they also supply a symmetrical arrangement of keys. I've used joycons in the past and I love the split controller design but the controllers are much too small for my hands and the abysmal 66hz polling rate creates noticeable input latency. The Gypard controllers look like interesting alternatives to the joycons as long as the hardware ends up being top notch (250+ hz polling rate and an accurate IMU, hopefully 9-axis to help counter drift) and would work well for PC-centric games if paired with something like the Logitech G13 or Nostromo n52 in the left hand for hotkeys. I'm really, really interesting in the etee controllers.The top thumb part acts very much like the Steam Controller touchpad (can use to swipe or scroll or have it act like a joystick) and the touch grip looks great for assigning bindings to all of your fingers -- instead of usually just your thumb, primary, and middle fingers). But we'll see how they work when more reviews come out. The tech on the grip needs to be really good in order to not have misread or dropped inputs due to fingers being slightly off the sensors or something. It could also add to immersion by bringing the gesture based inputs of VR to flat gaming.

But for now I'm happy with the DS4 (plus back buttons). It isn't perfect but it tends to get the job done in a majority of things. I also love peripherals and have dance pads and fight sticks for those special occasions (2D games deserve to be played with an arcade stick 😅).

Would be great if we could support M-button of Razer gamepad, but unfortunately it is impossible without cooperation with Razer team. Hope it will happen someday

My first gamepad is Xbox Wireless Controller.This controller is considered by many to be one of the best gamepads available. It's comfortable to hold, has responsive buttons, and is compatible with both Xbox consoles and PC. Then, I bought a DualShock 4 Controller: The DualShock 4 is the controller for the PlayStation 4 and is also compatible with PC bloxd io. It has a comfortable design, responsive buttons, and a touchpad that can be used for certain games. Currently, I am using Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. This is a high-end controller that is customizable and has a premium feel. It's compatible with Xbox consoles and PC.
For me, my favorite gamepad is DS4

PlayStation DualShock Controller is one of my favorite gamepads ever. Also used Xbox controllers for the best quality at cheap prices.

Yes, I also love that PlayStation Dualshock Controller. But I never used any other controller than this. So, I don't have any ideas on the other controllers. I am also thinking now of shifting to another controller. It will be easy if you help me to get the new one. Thanks.

For me, my favorite gamepad has to be the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. Its ergonomic design and customizable features make gaming incredibly comfortable and immersive. Plus, it works seamlessly with mathplayground which is perfect for educational gaming sessions.

When I was young - primary choice was KBM. These days I prefer couch gaming - hence gamepads - hence rewasd

Want to be able to play all games with gamepad - so gyro is important for KBM games like Diablo and King's Bounty and FPS. Also, I prefer wireless for couch gaming since not into competitive gaming these days.

So got GameSir T4PRO that connects as Nintendo Switch ... unfortunately, Switch mode does not support analogue triggers even though T4PRO have it (only accessible if use Xinput mode, which does not support gyro) ... plus polling rate of Switch at 125hz is a bit low for my taste.

So next one I got was DualSense ... 800Mhz wireless polling rate ... 250Mhz USB ... polling rate are same as DualShock4 (latency of DS4 are supposedly tad better), but chose DualSense due to adaptive triggers and haptic feedback which were available on limited PC games.

Here, I would like to repeat my previous request to reWASD team to make virtual DS4 at least 500Mhz polling

Dualsense is great ... but wanted back paddles to use with gyro mouse/aim ... basically wanted a button to stop gyro in order to reposition controller (kind of like lifting mouse to reposition it without moving cursor) ... so end up with DualSense Edge ... fit my need perfectly - reWASD allowed to assign anything to 4 additional buttons (2 back padlles and 2 function buttons) independently from other buttons

As a surprise ... Edge had a USB polling rate of 1000Mhz without any overclocking ... its very expensive, but now is my primary controller

Also have DualShock3 for emulators that require pressure sensitive buttons - thanks to reWASD dont need complicated tools to make it work wirelesly on PC... occasionally use it for games that dont require gyro ... polling rate is about same as Switch 125Hz ... but DS3 is very light weight

Also have RetroBit Saturn Bluetooth controller that I connect to PC as Switch (Xinput is only available via USB) ... for when I need 6 buttons to be infront of controller (for old fighting games).

Just for your information: the actual report rate on Nintendo Switch is 60 Hz (15 ms).
DualShock3 is around 10 ms on USB and 16-17 ms on bluetooth.
I would also recommend to look at Flydigi Vader 3 Pro: it has 500 Hz report rate on USB and 1000 Hz on wireless dongle. It is a better than DualSense if you need lot of buttons.

The one I own

I used for nearly 2 decades a Logitech F310. I t was cabled and never had any issues except that some dirt caused issues with the sticks. It was not too hard to open up to clean it and well closing it was a bit tricky with all the sticks that told me gravity is real.
I could never complain about it especially as Logitech had back when I bough tit already a very adjustable software so I could use it even for games that only supported keyboard input. (back then there was no reWASD )

Now I tried the Vader4pro. It's quite good. It also has a good software to adjust the key mapping. Not as good as reWASD. The 4 additional keys on the bottom and the two additional keys below the ABXY keys are useful for games like ArmA3 or ETS2. I don't think you can get out of the additional buttons much for simple console conversations...until you add mods that need more input.
Sadly the Vader4pro is not 100% supported by reWASD. With a combi from the gamepads software and reWASD you can set the additional 6 keys with the Vader3 tool and have the reWASD software provide you with more inputs from the controller.
Maybe until reWASD get the data to support the 4pro the Vader3pro is better.
